Itinerary
Day 1 Darwin

Board your expedition vessel in Darwin, the tropical gateway to the Kimberley Coast. Settle into your cabin and take time to explore the ship before meeting your expedition team and fellow travellers. As you depart into the Timor Sea, enjoy your first evening onboard with relaxed dining and an introduction to the journey ahead. The sense of remoteness begins immediately as the coastline fades and the vast northern waters open up before you.
Day 2 King George River and Falls

Cruise into the spectacular King George River, where sheer sandstone cliffs rise dramatically on either side. This remote gorge system leads to the twin King George Falls, among the highest in Western Australia. Depending on conditions, you may approach close to the base, taking in the scale and power of these cascading falls. The rugged landscape and quiet isolation offer a striking introduction to the Kimberley’s raw natural beauty.
Day 3 Vansittart Bay and Indigenous Rock Art

Explore Vansittart Bay, a region rich in cultural heritage and natural beauty. Join your guides for a walk to view ancient Gwion Gwion rock art, offering insight into one of the world’s oldest continuing cultures. The surrounding landscape of escarpments and coastal inlets adds depth to the experience, while the stories shared by your guides provide a meaningful connection to the Kimberley’s Indigenous history.
Day 4 Prince Frederick Harbour and Bigge Island

Enter Prince Frederick Harbour, a vast and pristine network of waterways framed by sandstone cliffs, mangroves and pockets of rainforest. Visit Bigge Island, known for its striking geological formations and cultural significance. Guided exploration reveals ancient art sites and panoramic views across the harbour. The sense of isolation and untouched beauty makes this one of the most memorable regions along the Kimberley Coast.
Day 5 Prince Regent River and King Cascade

Travel inland along the Prince Regent River, widely regarded as one of the Kimberley’s most scenic waterways. Surrounded by rugged cliffs and dense vegetation, the journey itself is as rewarding as the destination. Arrive at King Cascade, where water flows gently over terraced rock formations. This peaceful setting offers a moment to pause and take in the scale and tranquillity of the surrounding wilderness.
Day 6 Montgomery Reef and Doubtful Bay

Witness the remarkable tidal movement of Montgomery Reef, where the reef appears to rise from the ocean as the tide recedes. Water cascades off the exposed reef, creating natural waterfalls and attracting marine life such as turtles and reef sharks. Explore the area by tender before continuing into Doubtful Bay, a calm and scenic stretch of coastline that showcases the diversity of the Kimberley environment.
Day 7 Raft Point and Ruby Falls

Visit Raft Point, an important cultural site featuring Indigenous rock art and sweeping views across the coastline. Guided walks provide insight into the region’s history and environment. Continue to Ruby Falls, a secluded freshwater oasis surrounded by lush vegetation and rock formations. This is an ideal location to relax and, conditions permitting, enjoy a swim in a peaceful and remote setting.
Day 8 Horizontal Falls and Buccaneer Archipelago

Explore the Buccaneer Archipelago, a striking collection of islands shaped by some of the world’s largest tidal movements. Arrive at Talbot Bay, home to the Horizontal Falls, where powerful currents push through narrow gaps in the rock formations. Experience this natural phenomenon by tender, navigating through the surrounding channels and taking in the energy and scale of this unique Kimberley highlight.
Day 9 Lacepede Islands

Visit the Lacepede Islands, a protected marine sanctuary known for its abundant birdlife and breeding colonies. These remote islands are home to seabirds and marine turtles, offering excellent opportunities for wildlife observation. The calm waters and open horizons create a peaceful contrast to the dramatic cliffs and gorges explored earlier in the journey.
Day 10 Coastal Exploration

Your final full day is shaped by nature, with the expedition team selecting locations based on tides and conditions. This may include exploring hidden creeks, secluded beaches or lesser known waterfalls. Each option offers a final opportunity to experience the Kimberley’s landscapes up close. Enjoy the relaxed pace onboard as you reflect on the journey and take in the last views of this extraordinary region.
Day 11 Broome

Arrive in Broome, where the red earth meets the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. After breakfast, disembark your vessel and conclude your Kimberley Coast expedition. Whether continuing your journey or returning home, you leave with lasting memories of one of Australia’s most unique and remote destinations.
