Arrive in Quito, set high in the Andes and framed by volcanic peaks. You are met on arrival and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure to rest, adjust to the altitude or take a gentle walk nearby. Quito offers a striking introduction to Ecuador, blending history, culture and dramatic landscapes. Overnight in Quito as you prepare for the Amazon experience ahead.
Day 2 Quito to Amazon Rainforest

Fly east over the Andes into the Amazon basin, arriving in Coca. Continue by motorised canoe along the Napo River, where the landscape transitions into dense rainforest. Wildlife sightings often begin along the riverbanks, with birdlife and occasional monkeys visible en route. Arrive at your jungle lodge and settle in before your first guided exploration. The pace is unhurried, allowing you to absorb the sounds and richness of the Amazon.
Day 3 Amazon Exploration

Explore the rainforest with expert naturalist guides who bring depth to every encounter. Walk forest trails identifying medicinal plants, insects and birdlife while learning how the ecosystem functions. A canopy tower offers a broader perspective of the jungle. In the afternoon, explore waterways by canoe, where wildlife activity is often more concentrated. The experience is immersive yet balanced, combining exploration with time to observe and absorb.
Day 4 Amazon Wildlife Encounters

Focus on wildlife observation across varied environments. Early excursions increase the chance of spotting monkeys, sloths and bird species. Travel along river channels and forest trails with expert interpretation throughout. Visit elevated observation points for wider views across the canopy. Each outing deepens your understanding of the Amazon as a complex, living ecosystem shaped by biodiversity and natural rhythms.
Day 5 Return to Quito

Depart the lodge and travel back along the Napo River to Coca. Fly to Quito, where the contrast between rainforest and highland city is immediate. The remainder of the day is at leisure to rest or explore at your own pace. This transition allows time to reset before your Galápagos experience.

Explore Quito’s historic centre, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its colonial architecture. Walk through plazas, churches and cultural landmarks while gaining insight into the city’s history. Enjoy time to explore artisan areas or take in views across the Andes. A cultural contrast before your transition to the Galápagos.
