Beginning in Tokyo, the experience introduces modern Japan alongside historic temples and vibrant districts. From here, the pace shifts into the countryside with a stay in Kusatsu Onsen, one of Japan’s most renowned hot spring regions, followed by visits to Nagano and the famous snow monkeys.

The route continues through Kanazawa’s preserved districts and into the UNESCO-listed village of Shirakawa-go, where traditional thatched houses sit beneath winter snow. In Takayama, historic streets and local culinary experiences add further depth before arriving in Kyoto, Japan’s cultural heart.

Itinerary

Arrive in Tokyo and transfer to your hotel. The evening is at leisure to unwind or explore nearby neighbourhoods, offering a gentle introduction to Japan’s dynamic capital.

Travel to Kusatsu via historic Kawagoe. Experience traditional onsen culture, including the unique Yumomi ritual, and stay overnight in a ryokan with hot spring baths.

Visit Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park, where macaques bathe in natural hot springs. Continue to Nagano for a relaxed afternoon in this alpine region.

Travel to Kanazawa and explore Kenrokuen Garden and Kanazawa Castle. The evening is free to experience the city’s refined atmosphere.

Participate in a traditional tea ceremony in the Higashi Chaya district. The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore preserved streets and local culture.

Visit Shirakawa-go, a UNESCO-listed village known for its thatched farmhouses. Continue to Takayama with a scenic ropeway ride offering panoramic mountain views.
